My primary interest is in expressing & exploring the enigmatic power of ‘free association' mark-making.
By the use of colour and composition, and working with a wide
range of mixed media, a timeless visualization is the end result.
My paintings also reflect an interest in our sensitivity to scale
and the psychological phenomenon known as ‘pareidolia’
- an occurrence in which a vague and random stimulus (usually
an image) is mistakenly perceived as recognisable.
Through the use of contrasting colour, texture and evocative
mark making, my paintings allow the viewer to make their own personal,
spiritual and emotional associations. Influences include Wols,
Helen Frankenthaler, Anselm Kiefer & Howard Hodgkin.
